There is something incredibly magical about a romantic train station engagement shoot. There has been much debate over photographing on train tracks and at train stations over the past few years. It makes me a bit sad when the romance of travel, the symbolism of journeys, of joyous meetings and heart wrenching departures are discounted in photographic communities due to people working in an unsafe way.
Trains and train stations have always played a huge part in our own love story. We began shooting NYC subways together when we first met. We would spend hours riding the rails, photographing couples in love, the homeless, the corporate climbers. We would meet in Grand Central, cuddling in corners as we studied the light patterns on the floor, and waiting for the travelers who would journey through it. Eventually I began to visit Paul in Philadelphia and 30th Street Station became the place of smiles that couldn’t be contained, warm wood benches for cuddling, and more than a few Sunday afternoon tears.
So in this photographic climate of safety and rules and train track backlash, we will always find a way to harness the romance of journeys, and Philadelphia’s 30th Street Station is one of the most romantic stations there is. We can’t wait for another couple to allow us to play in that stunning platform light!

Wow love all the engagement photos in the 30th street train station! Especially down where you board the train. GORGEOUS light and so romantic!
