A Colorful University City Wedding

When Adrienne and I first began speaking about her wedding, her vision was all about color.  As a graphic designer, she loves colors and patterns and textures so we were ridiculously excited about her colorful University City Wedding.  We began the day at Homewood suites which has been the hotel of choice for several of our University City brides.  We then hopped over to City Hall for Adrienne and Mike’s first look, which we still managed to make work despite a large Muslim festival going on in the courtyard.  Our experience in street photography continues to be asset in our wedding photography and I love the photo journalistic aspects of their city hall and Broad Street shots. I also love the variety of looks we’re able to provide in half the time, with Paul’s sweeping wide angles and my longer lenses for intimate close-ups.

Falls Bridge is one of my new favorite areas for bridal shoots, and was a great compliment to the earlier portion of the day. I love the portraits of Adrienne, and her dress (with pockets!) was the perfect romantic contrast to the street lights and hard angles of the bridge.  There was no more fitting venue for a cool city wedding than University City’s Distrito, where guests were greeted with margaritas, Mexican Lucha Libre masks, and some of the most fabulous Mexican food I’ve ever tasted. Thank you Adrienne and Mike, for allowing us to document your amazing day!

  • This is really awesome Lori... Love all the beautiful colors and the street photography. Such a fun wedding!!!

  • Black White and Raw Photography has such a distinct style in the wedding industry. I absolutely love seeing your wedding photography from start to finish through your blog. Distrito sounds like a perfect wedding venue!! Meeting with a margarita is my type of wedding establishment. Can't wait to see your next Philadelphia wedding!!

  • Beautiful colorful Philadelphia wedding! The brides dress is absolutely gorgeous I'm in love with it. My favorate shots are the portraits outside City Hall with all the people around. Normally photographers try to make it look like people arnt in the background but I like that you used the street photography element. I also looooove the portraits at the stairs outside. The shot of the brides shoe up on the stairs is my absolute favorite. Great images of a Univerty a City wedding!

  • Absolutely adore this Philly wedding! Love how this wedding just feels different from a normal wedding. The colorful cake, bridesmaids dresses, and venue give this Universal City wedding such a unique charm to it. And wow those formal photos of the bride and groom at Philadelphia's City Hall are just stunning!
