Classic Fall Old City, Philadelphia Wedding

First look at Independence Mall

Nothing that says “classic” like an  Old City Philadelphia Wedding in the fall. The area is loaded with 18th Century charm, cobblestone streets and lovely hotels.  Pro tip: Make sure you get a permit from the City of Philadelphia Parks and Recreation.  Although you may not get asked to show a permit, very often you are. And you don’t want to be scrambling for another place to shoot with a bridal party and guests to get back to. Don’t wait until the last minute, as sometimes the permits take a while to get.

Piaget and Colman’s  Old City Philadelphia wedding began with bridal prep in Franklin Hotel’s stunning bridal suite. There’s a lovely little path just across from the hotel that was perfect for a first look. We photographed Colman and his crew of Irish groomsmen as we waited for the girls. A pretty walk around Second Bank gave us opportunity for bridal party photos as well as bride and groom portraits. Second bank is one of my favorite spots for photos. It’s Greek revival architecture makes for grand, dramatic photos perfect for wall art. There are spots to keep dry if it raining or the sun is too hot, and I love the columns for portraits. All of that white fills the shadows of the face and creates beautifully flattering light.

After family formals on the roof lounge of the Hotel Monaco, a beautiful ceremony filled with the brides mother’s floral creations took place at the hotel before the real party started. The reception was full of laughter, close family and friends and dancing the night away. I can’t thank this lovely couple enough for having me be part of their day.
