The Philadelphia Cherry Blossoms are one of my very favorite things about living in Philadelphia. It’s one of the first signs of spring in our city and beautiful pops of fragrant pink clusters are dusting the newly green grass in various spots around the city. Every year we get a few cherry blossom shoots, models, dancers, engagements and weddings. This year I really wanted to spend the whole week in them. I wanted to meet new clients, re-unite with regular clients and celebrate spring with Paul and our cameras, and that’s just what we did.
We’ve photographed more families and kids than ever this season, and our first Philadelphia Cherry Blossom family shoot was with Samson and his son Ernest, to celebrate Ernest’s first birthday! We chose the area behind the Please Touch Museum for it’s ease of access with a little one. Going mid week was key to the success of this one. During the weekend when the festival is in full swing, you have to pay for parking there. The blossoms are only at their peak for one week, and we timed it with his shoot perfectly. He was an absolute delight. We photographed him as he sat in the beautiful trees, smiling and laughing with his dad. It was quite a special afternoon to celebrate the love of a father and son. I hope we get to photograph them again as Ernest grows!
