Sean and Phil’s Spectacular Wedding at UPenn’s Museum of Archaeology

Sean and Phil have a joy for living life that is absolutely palpable.  We knew after shooting their fun engagement session around Philly that their wedding was going to be a truly special event to be part of.  The men chose U Penn’s Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology for their venue.  Upon arriving at the space, we were allowed to photograph the gentlemen in the Egypt Lower Gallery, under the shadow of the 15 ton sphinx of Ramses II.  Sean and Phil were married in an outdoor ceremony in the Warden Garden by  Jill Magerman of Meaningful Milestones.  Some of my favorite moments included everyone present singing “What a Wonderful World” and the groomsmen draping rainbow ribbons around the couples hands in a lovely twist on the hand fasting ceremony.  After an elegant cocktail hour, guests were invited into the famed Chinese Rotunda where they enjoyed a truly spectacular meal by CxRA  beneath a 90 foot domed ceiling and surrounded by ancient Chinese art. Gabriella Nemati of Nature’s Florist provided the beautiful flower arrangements and some of the most beautifully unique boutonnieres I’ve ever seen. The real party began amongst pharaohs and mummies of ancient Egypt where guests danced the night away to the music of DJ Joe Philly Star of Philly Star DJs and fabulous lighting by Anthony Cistulli.  A stunning cake by Ann’s Cake Pan looked almost too beautiful to eat. Sean and Phil, we can’t possibly thank you enough for allowing us to be even a small part of your journey.  The love and joy of your day was one we will truly never forget.

  • Lori, I hate this gallery ... IT IS SOOOO GOOD and it makes me jealous. :)
Seriously. You did a great job here. I LOVE that these two awesome gentlemen got ready together. I think that really added a nice touch to the photos and the details they picked out? Fantastic.
I especially love the darker tone you used for some of the penn museum of archaeology photos. It really gave it a cool tone and feel.
    Awesome work as usual.

  • Love!! You did an amazing job capturing there wedding day!! You can really feel the emotion between the gentlemen and there love for each other! I love all of the detail shots too. Always a pleasure viewing your work/blog!!

  • I can't get over how gorgeous the lighting is!! You really worked it. Everything from the candids, the details and the posed photos are just perfect. The Museum of Archaeology was a stunning backdrop and you used every inch! Seems like an amazing party and I'm sure the couple is still swooning over these photos.

  • A sphinx and ancient Chinese art? Uh please invite me to the next wedding you're photographing at the Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. As usual, your work is beautiful!

  • Once again Philly photographer Black White and Raw Photography captured gorgeous wedding photography for another happy and in love couple. I love same sex wedding photography particularly in 2015, the year when the Supreme Court finally made gay marriage legal in all 50 states! For years we will look back at LGBT wedding photography from 2015 with historic eyes, taking note of the long road it took for gays and lesbian to be granted marriage equality. Next up, full protections from employment and housing discrimination and full acceptance of all LGBT people. From the detail shots, to the action shots, and all the classic wedding photography portraits, Lori Foxworth creates lovely images for the couple to enjoy for years to come. Best wishes to the happy couple. #lovewins

  • These Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology wedding photos are just fabulous! Everything from the emotive wedding photography to the amazing reception lighting in a challenging venue. Beautiful work as always Lori, and Many congrats to the newlyweds, Phil and Sean <3

  • Seriously, what a unique and cool venue! Shooting a wedding in the Museum of Archaeology seems like such a bucket list item!! I love the ribbon-tying ceremony that this couple used for their marriage as well. Beautiful captures, you really rocked both the shadows and the light in this space!
